Five Genuine Harry Colt Design Courses
Our Best of Harry Colt's ‘top 10 selection’ are the golf courses that best represent Harry Colt’s design principles. They value his design, some after more than 100 years, and are keen on maintaining or sometimes restoring his design. This “Trail” takes you to five genuine Harry Colt designed golf courses. We have selected hotels at Bath, Southampton and Windsor. There is an interesting mix of golf courses. One links, two heathland and two parkland. Several of these golf courses would now be termed short. We have found that they are often the ones that have been able to keep close to Colt’s original design. Those selected to hold professional tournaments have more pressure to gain length which can compromise the original strategic design.
Itinerary for International golfers
| Day 1 | Arrive at London drive MacDonald Bath Spa Hotel for two nights. |
| Day 2 | Play Radyr near Cardiff often referred to as “one of Colt’s little jewels”. |
| Day 3 | Play Burnham & Berrow a Championship course that is a challenging, fickle and testing links. Drive to MacDonald Botley Park Hotel & Spa near Southampton for two nights |
| Day 4 | Play Broadstone a natural, rolling heathland course with great diversity and splendid scenery. |
| Day 5 | Play Blackmore, known for its clever dogleg holes, its short but a relentless test of golf. Drive to MacDonald Windsor Hotel for two nights |
| Day 6 | Play Thornton Park at Brentwood, a classic parkland course in beautiful woodland that was an ancient deer park. |
